Course Description

Movement Medicine: An Introduction

Pilates-based Techniques for Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation

This 12 day course is designed to give Pilates instructors the information and tools needed to work with common orthopedic diagnoses safely and effectively.

The curriculum includes a thorough review of anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics as well as information, assessments, exercise and Pilates based protocals for many commonly seen injuries and conditions. Each weekend will include:

  • Experiential anatomy lessons to understand optimum function
  • Assessment tools for understanding what you see
  • Pilates and pre-Pilates exercises for correcting common imbalances
  • Detailed information on common conditions
  • Case studies and discussion
  • A detailed manual of all material covered
The course is offered in 4 sections, Back and Trunk, Pelvis and Hip, the Knee, Ankle and Foot and Shoulder and Neck. You can take any section individually or you can take all 4 for a thorough introduction to the body, how it goes wrong and how to correct common issues through Pilates based movement reeducation.
