Course Description

Movement Medicine: An Introductory Course

Pilates-based Techniques for Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation

This six-month course is designed to give Pilates instructors the information and tools needed to work with common orthopedic diagnosis safely and effectively.

The curriculum includes a thorough review of anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics as well as information, assessments, exercise and Pilates based protocals for many commonly seen injuries and conditions. Each weekend will include:

  • A warm-up on the mat or the reformer
  • Lectures covering the anatomy and kinesiology of the area
  • Information on common diagnoses
  • Information on common structural imbalances
  • Assessment tools
  • Specific exercises and protocols
  • Time to practice
  • Time to share our knowledge
All class materials will be provided.

Back and Trunk      November 9, 10 & 11, 2007

Hip                           February 2 & 3, 2008

Knee and Ankle     March 15 & 16, 2008  (*please note date change)

Upper Body            May 9, 10 & 11, 2008

 

All days go from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.


Fee

$400 per 2 day module.
$600 per 3 day module.
